Camper trailers began to appear in my work initially as visual language for talking about social class. They are metaphors for mobility, or in most cases, immobility. There is another subtext connected to subliminal mythology of the American West and expansion, since many RV brands are named after Native American tribes or concepts romanticizing the conquest of nature. Many of my current project interests have to do with historical imaginaries of the American West, land, resource issues, and skewering ideologies that prioritize individual capital and property over future communal life.
